DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Robert Brandt & Co, ultra-thin Bagnolet caliber gold and enamel watch, 41mm, 6.0mm front-to-back width at its thickest point, 18K gold (tested) OF original case with superb rear enameled scene possibly of Samson and Delilah, white enamel dial, KWKS via a male key (key not included with this lot), cylinder escapement, silvered signature plate with gilt floral detail, s#29650 with matching serial number within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 20.1 dwt (31.3 g). A very attractive piece with case rear possibly depicting the Biblical story of Samson and Delilah.
CONDITION:
Mvt: NR, fully wound, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall to visible portion, signature plate with some mild areas of finish loss at perimeter, regulation disk with faded markings some of which are no longer legible; nearly flawless dial with short fine scratch above center, tiny flakes adjacent affixing screws at 3 and 9; excellent hands; case shows little wear, few pinpoint nicks, good engraving detail, rear enamel scene is fully intact though with numerous surface scratches, case rear opens dramatically wide of 90 degrees (to approximately 160 degrees) and has some play and slide at its hinge which shows some evident metal loss to each of its knuckles; tight bow, push shows light wear; glass crystal with small edge flake near 8:30.
